JPEC April 2008

We were privileged to be able to host JPEC (Japan Pastors Equipping Conference) here in Shimada in our "brand new building"! What a good time it was of fellowship, prayer and time in the Word with Pastors and leaders of Every Nation from all over Japan. Pastors Sam and Nancy Webb from Hawaii joined us too!! We ended the time together by going to our newest favorite restaurant, Louisiana Mama up on the hill on Kanaya (now part of Shimada). This restaurant overlooking Shimada, has a very nice menu including many kinds of spaghetti, a nice salad bar, drink bar, appetizers, and dessert all for a very reasonable price. They can seat around 45- 50 people. Our group included 34 people. If you judge fun by the most laughter (noise), the ladies table won! Following dinner there was a re-enactment of Taka's proposal to our daughter, Ruthanne, on the very location of the proposal not far from the restaurant. There was another slightly older couple there reminiscing.

Living Water Fellowship Dedication April 20, 2008

We are blessed! God gave us a new building to further His Kingdom in and great friends and co-laborers from all over Japan and from as far as Hawaii to celebrate this great provision. We certainly give all praise to God and thanks to all who made this event possible as well. It was a pleasure to see how God used so many people, working in and sometimes out of their giftings! We appreciate all of the willing hearts.
The children blessed by leading out in the first worship song and we continued rejoicing through song to our Great Heavenly Father. Pastor Sam brought an encouraging word for the church and Pastor Scott prayed a prayer dedicating our hearts afresh to the Lord. This was followed by feasting and fellowshipping. Yes Lord!!
We are looking forward to and enjoying the "New Beginnings" of 2008. Our heart is to touch God's hearts and many many hearts for His kingdom this year and through this building and this part of the

Sunday with Lois Bostrom, One Beautiful Lady

We were honored to have Lois Bostrom with us last Sunday. She, along with her husband George, were responsible for many of us starting churches and sharing the Gospel here in Japan. We were blessed to be able to get our start here in Japan with them. Lois shared a challenging message from her heart about who Jesus is. When I say from her heart that is exactly what a mean. Her heart is full of Jesus and her heart truly is for the Japanese to know Him. It is always a blessing and so good to be with her. Thank you Lord!
She also shared in our afternoon New Heart ladies meeting. Wives and mothers were able to glean from her years of experience as a wife and mother. It was truly a time where the older women could teach the younger women as the scriptures says and another chance for the Lord to change our hearts to new hearts for Him and for our families. We hope she comes again!

Valentine Dinner

It had been 3 years since we had a Valentine Dinner. We were so excited to have 16 couples join us for a wonderful dinner from Belle Rose restaurant followed later by Apple crisp made by Angela and Connie. The program included a fun couple's game by Kathi, a duet by Angela and Kelly singing "Valentine" by Martina McBride and a challenging short message for couples. It was a great evening, one we hope to repeat every year from now on. This was made possible by many servant hearts in our church. Thank you to all of you!! To see many beautiful pictures of the couples in attendance please click here.

New Year New Beginning

We cannot say this has been an easy start to a new year. There is great joy and anticipation of what the Lord is going to do this year through our church and in our lives. We are also anticipating how God is going to use our new building and new location. If you would like to see more pictures of the construction please take a look at the photos posted by Akemi here.

But this last week brought great sadness as well, since we lost two of our church members. We know they are home with the Lord and that brings great peace. Emmanuel, Florinda's husband, passed away rather suddenly on Monday although he was on dialysis for some time. We made sure Florinda was able to go home to the Philippines for his funeral. Then on Wednesday morning we got a call that Pastor Noriko and Naomi's father, Fukuji Kawasaki also went to be with the Lord. His funeral was held Sunday morning. Remember they lost their mother at the end of October. Please keep praying for these families and for the church family he...

January 6th First Sunday Service in our New Building

So blessed! Our first Sunday morning service was held in our new building in Rokugo. God has been so good to us to provide such a wonderful facility to be used for His glory. We are still somewhat in a camping mode with many things yet undone but it is all slowly coming together. Our pastor is enjoying his new study with floor to ceiling bookcases for all his books. This is the best building we have had and it is going to get better and better. We are excited to see what more the Lord is going to do.

Work this Sunday Dec 16th

The floor tiles are being laid from today, Wednesday. We will not be able to work inside the building for 5 days. There may be work for the men to do in the afternoon on the outside of the building this coming Sunday.
Thank you again to all of you who have given up your free Sunday afternoons and to those of you who have been able to make some time during the week as well to work on the church. You are a great blessing! And a big thank you as well to all of the women who worked so hard packing the church last Sunday.

Announcing Another Church Move

Our building is in the process of being sold to a large company. Many in the warehouses behind our building are already moving out. We got confirmation about 2 weeks ago that we need to make preparations. We have a building offer in Higashi cho in Shimada. A factory will be renovated for our use if the loan goes through. Please pray! We hope to stay in our present building until December but our contract is expiring in September so it will be on a month to month basis until the sale finalizes. We look forward to what the Lord wants to do through this! God is good and He is our
